Cho U (9d) defeated Hane Naoki (9d) by 4.5 points in the second round of the 30th NEC Cup tournament. Cho U will face the winner of the second round match between So Yokoku (8d) and Kono Rin (9d), the defending NEC Cup title holder. The remaining second round matches are between Iyama Yuta (9d) and O Meien (9d), which is scheduled for August 19th, and Yuki Satoshi (9d) and Yamashita Keigo (9d).
